HIS ANNOINTING

In Biblical times, priests were annointed when ordained.

In turn, priests annointed kings when enthroned.

The Bible teaches that when someone is ill, that person is to call the elders of the congregation and I quote:

                    "Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let
                     them pray over him, annointing him with oil in the name of the Lord... "
                     James 5:14 NKJV

So we see that even today we  are to make use of oil to annoint each other, especially in times of sickness. But it is not only the elders who must annoint us, because the Word of God teaches that we are all priests and kings in God's kingdom:

                     "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His
                      own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called
                      you out of darkness into His marvellous light;" 1 Peter 2:9

Have you ever let the meaning of this verse sink deep into your very heart, soul, mind and spirit? Soaked it up? Digested it?

We must hold fast to the Word of God. Especially in times of trials and tribulations, when we feel low and unworthy, or defeated and helpless, or dispirited, we as the "chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, His own special people", should stand our ground - stand under the annointing and refuse to be moved from under the cloud of God's glory... and be what God intended us to be!

A chosen generation;

A royal priesthood;

A holy nation;

His own special people;

and we should live and move and act with the authority given us in the name of Jesus and have our being under the full annointing of the Holy Spirit daily!

Thank You, Lord, for your Annointing. Thank You that we do not have to feel unworthy, little, of no worth in Your Kingdom. Help us to realise and accept this glorious position that You have intended for us and to stand and move and act according to and under the Annointing of Your Spirit every day of our lives.
